Standing for principles – Angus Jones

Angus Jones is currently in the news, the actor for a tv sitcom (two and a half men)gave a testimony (click testimony) to the Forerunner. In his testimony, he lifts up the name of Jesus Christ, tells of how he finds Christ and tells the fans of the show not to watch it. It’s a very powerful testimony, where a youth in Christ, both in age (he is about 19) and in Christ (recently came to the faith), stands up for principle, he stands for what is right, even though many in the media is ridiculing him for his stance. How many of us that has been in the faith for years are standing for principles?

How many of us are still watching movies, and sitcoms and act in plays? Is it ok to partake in these things and not be affected? What does the Bible say? “But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.” -2 Corinthians 3:18 What we watch, what consumes us have an effect on our spiritual life, by beholding we become changed, let us behold Christ, so that we can be changed into his image. The Bible says, “Can two walk together, except they be agreed?” -Amos 3:3 How can we watch movies, sitcoms, drama, etc., where people lie, kill, commit adultery etc., and not be on the side of the enemy?

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” -Philippians 4:8 This verse gives us a criteria as to what we are to watch and think about.

Among the most dangerous resorts for pleasure is the theater. Instead of being a school for morality and virtue, as is so often claimed, it is the very hotbed of immorality. Vicious habits and sinful propensities are strengthened and confirmed by these entertainments. Low songs, lewd gestures, expressions, and attitudes deprave the imagination and debase the morals. Every youth who habitually attends such exhibitions will be corrupted in principle. There is no influence in our land more powerful to poison the imagination, to destroy religious impressions, and to blunt the relish for the tranquil pleasures and sober realities of life than theatrical amusements. The love for these scenes increases with every indulgence as the desire for intoxicating drink strengthens with its use. The only safe course is to shun the theater, the circus, and every other questionable place of amusement. [14] – {AH 516.2}

God’s people are not only to shun movies and the like, but we are not to be actors in them either.

Has God given you intellect? Is it for you to manage according to your inclinations? Can you glorify God by being educated to represent characters in plays, and to amuse an audience with fables? Has not the Lord given you intellect to be used to His name’s glory in proclaiming the gospel of Christ? If you desire a public career, there is a work that you may do. Help the class you represent in plays. Come to the reality. Give your sympathy where it is needed by actually lifting up the bowed down. Satan’s ruling passion is to pervert the intellect and cause men to long for shows and theatrical performances. The experience and character of all who engage in this work will be in accordance with the food given to the mind. – {2MR 246.3}

The Lord has given evidence of His love for the world. There was no falsity, no acting, in what He did. He gave a living gift, capable of suffering humiliation, neglect, shame, reproach. This Christ did that He might rescue the fallen.—Manuscript 42, 1898, 13. (“To Every Man His Work.”) – {2MR 247.1} Released February, 1963.

Let us keep Angus Jones in our prayers, that he may hold on strong, and that he may not give in to pressure and change his stance for the Lord.  Pray that through this ordeal, Jesus will be glorified, and hearts will turn to Him.

“…Behold, to obeyis better than sacrifice…” (1 Samuel 15:22) “… We ought to obey God rather than men.” (Acts 5:29)

Locusts and Pestilence next?

Prophetic events are so plain to see, that even from the mouth of the unsuspecting ones God’s purpose is being revealed.  NBC local affiliate news in Philadelphia reports, “Christie noted that residents and emergency workers are weary, and joked about what else could go wrong. “So we’re getting ready for another storm,” Christie said. “I’m waiting for the locusts and pestilence next.””

Governor Chris Christie here is most likely referring to the seven last plagues of Revelation  chapter 15 & 16. The events that have happened in the Northeast lately(New Jersey, New york, etc.), and the world in general must have impressed upon his mind the nearness of the coming of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Even though the news says he joked, the Bible says, “… for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.”  -Matthew 12:34

The children of the world are wiser in their generation than the children of the light, and herein is seen their wisdom. Their object is for earthly gain, and to this end they direct all their energies. O that this zeal would characterize the toiler for heavenly riches! “– {FLB 170.5}

God’s people at this time in earths history should be sounding the alarm, blowing the trumpet in Zion, and calling a solemn assembly, for the time is at hand. It is not the time for the seven last plagues, but the time for the Sunday Law is almost upon us, and the plagues will follow there after. “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.” (Revelation 13:16-17)

With the financial turmoil in Europe and the US, the world actually, it is plain the see how near we are to the controlling of buying and selling (Sunday Law).  Even now there are great concerns that the US might be heading into another recession and the only solution that is being trumpeted is to borrow more.  Remember,  The rich ruleth over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.” (Prov. 22:7) We know who the borrower is, but do we know who the lender really is, and do we know and understand the motive, that topic itself is for another study, it would arouse all of us, if we truly understand what is happening behind the scenes.

As we coupled what is happening in our world, the strange weather patterns and the financial crisis, and add to these; public corruption, imorrality, crime, etc.  This tells us, “Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of the Lord. Behold, the husbandman waiteth for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until he receive the early and latter rainBe ye also patient; stablish your hearts: for the coming of the Lord draweth nigh. Grudge not one against another, brethren, lest ye be condemned: behold, the judge standeth before the door.” (James 5:7-9)

Yes the coming of the the Lord is near, at this time “we are to make our calling and election sure”, we are to be preparing to receive the outpouring of the latter rain.  Yes, there is a preparation, many believe that there is nothing to do but sit back relax and wait, but the Bible does not teach this.  “Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not.” (Luke 12:40)  in order for us to be ready, we have to know what we are getting ready for and the clothing (righteousness, character) we must wear.

The bottom line brothers and sisters, “…  prepare to meet thy God, O Israel. (Amos 4:12)

FULNESS OF TIME

When the fulness of time was come

There are so many signs in the world today that tell us that we are near the end.  That the fulness of time is just about come.  We will look at one area, that at times does not get much attention.  Let us read the following quote from the book, The Desire of Ages:

The deception of sin had reached its height. All the agencies for depraving the souls of men had been put in operation. The Son of God, looking upon the world, beheld suffering and misery. With pity He saw how men had become victims of satanic cruelty. He looked with compassion upon those who were being corrupted, murdered, and lost. They had chosen a ruler who chained them to his car as captives. Bewildered and deceived, they were moving on in gloomy procession toward eternal ruin,—to death in which is no hope of life, toward night to which comes no morning. Satanic agencies were incorporated with men. The bodies of human beings, made for the dwelling place of God, had become the habitation of demons. The senses, the nerves, the passions, the organs of men, were worked by supernatural agencies in the indulgence of the vilest lust. The very stamp of demons was impressed upon the countenances of men. Human faces reflected the expression of the legions of evil with which they were possessed. Such was the prospect upon which the world’s Redeemer looked. What a spectacle for Infinite Purity to behold!{DA 36.3}

Just as it was at Christ’s first coming, so it is in the world today as we near Christ second coming, many have become the habitation of demons.  We have read or heard in the news of all these demonic behaviors that are taking place, such as a Maryland man admitting to eating his victim’s  heart and brain, or the NYC officer that was plotting to eat 100 women, etc. and even more but i think we get the idea.

The condition of things in the world shows that troublous times are right upon us. The daily papers are full of indications of a terrible conflict in the near future. Bold robberies are of frequent occurrence. Strikes are common. Thefts and murders are committed on every hand. Men possessed of demons are taking the lives of men, women, and little children. Men have become infatuated with vice, and every species of evil prevails. – {9T 11.3} – 9T 11.3

When we add the demonic behavior of so many, with other prophetic events that are taking place in our sick world, we can truly see that we are at the end, “But when the fulness of the time was comeGod sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law, To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.” (Galations 4:4-5)

There is a great work to be done, but a short time to do it.  Many souls are being trapped and seduced by the devil.  And as Christians our work through Christ Jesus is “… to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruisedTo preach the acceptable year of the Lord.” Luke 4:18-19

We as God’s people in these last days have to “be ready always” because we may come face to face with those that are demon possessed.  The Bible tells us “And when he was come into the house, his disciples asked him privately, Why could not we cast him out? [meaning the demon] And he said unto them, This kind can come forth by nothing, but by prayer and fasting.” Mark 9:28-29

Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?” Isaiah 58:6

Jesus was always in a state of readiness, likewise we are to be in a state of readiness.  Our lifestyle should reflect that we are living in the anti-typical day of Atonement.  “Also on the tenth day of this seventh month there shall be a day of atonement: it shall be an holy convocation unto you; and ye shall afflict your souls, and offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD.” (Leviticus 23:27)
